Honorary Members

ASLE has extended honorary memberships to the following people to date. Recipients were chosen for this honor because of their contributions to ASLE and/or literature and environmental studies. They have significantly enriched those familiar with their work. Their lifetime memberships are a small but sincere token of ASLE’s gratitude to them. Each new inductee is honored at our biennial conferences. They also receive a lifetime subscription to our publications and mention in ASLE publications when appropriate. ASLE congratulates its honorary members on their exemplary careers as artists, advocates, and environmental role models.

Member Survey

We encourage members and prospective members to read our Fall 2007 Membership Survey.

The blue planet is calling us to cherish its immortality and ASLE membership is the best platform to learn how to get involved. – Ufuk Ozdag, Associate Professor, Hacettepe University (Turkey)

ASLE has provided an intellectual community where I find it possible to both act locally, think globally AND to think locally, act globally–whether the focus is on literature of place or global climate change, the poems I write or the curriculum changes I hope to bring to my campus, the people I’ve met through ASLE continue to deepen and enrich my creative and professional work. – Elizabeth Dodd, University Distinguished Professor of English, Kansas State University
