CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS
Please find call for chapters for our forthcoming book: ECO-CONCEPTS: Critical Reflections in Emerging Ecocritical Theory and Ecological Thought which is to be published by Lexington Books (Rowman & Littlefield) in 2023.
We cordially invite you to submit an abstract proposal (around 300-400 words) for our new book for editorial consideration by 30 June 2022. The book is planned to include chapters discussing the trending ecocritical key concepts and providing an evaluation of recent theories in the fields of ecocritical/environmental studies and the humanities in general. The chapters will present a theoretical and critical discussion of the suggested topics rather than a case analysis of a specific literary work. However, general references to literature, film, media and popular culture are welcome. Each chapter is anticipated to be 3000-4000 words including footnotes and references. The authors are expected to present a critical discussion of their suggested topics, specifically in terms of their origin, meaning, development, their current condition and future projections.
Editors’ Introduction
Since its inception, ecocritical theory has seen rapid growth, with increased attention from intellectuals and researchers around the globe. With its intriguing approaches and essential ideas, the theory has spawned a distinct area of inquiry and diverse critical perspectives within itself. The school of ecocriticism has exhibited a dynamic, fast-growing development, from deep ecology to ecofeminism and social ecology to material ecocriticism. Due to its dynamic nature, ecocriticism has distinguished itself as a respected school within literary theory and the environmental humanities; and this privileged position is unlikely to change during an epoch marked by multitude of conflicts, ecological questions, predicaments and problems.
This book presents a collection of papers by researchers of many disciplines on various aspects of the prevailing themes in ecocritical theory and ecological thought in order to shed light on the current ecocritical concepts and the future paths in environmental humanities. Therefore, this edited volume seeks to address the trending concepts in this area of research employing an argumentative approach. Eco-Concepts will propose new ways of exploring the relationship between ecocritical theory/ecological thought and fundamental notions like “energy,” “ecology,” “epoch,” “philosophy,” and “humanities,” in order to truly comprehend the context and realities of the twenty-first century. We welcome to-the-point, critical reflections about the above mentioned topics.
