ASLE has been a major part of my development as a writer/public scholar/activist—I remember reading a portion of an early draft of Luz for a creative panel at ASLE back in 2013—and so this is a huge honor for me. It's a big deal for folks here in San Antonio doing EJ work, to see our struggles, our community, and our literature on the map. —Marisol Cortez, a 2022 Creative Book Award Winner for Luz at Midnight

We are so grateful for you! Our members and supporters are the forces that shape and sustain ASLE, and have done so for thirty years. We continue to advocate for the importance of the humanities and the arts in crucial conversations about the environment, and hope you can help us ensure that our programs continue to support the environmental humanities and arts, and its practitioners, during a time of duress.

Please consider a donation in any amount to ASLE. Your gift can help ASLE fund the program of your choice, including:

Book Awards

The ASLE book awards in the areas of ecocriticism and environmental creative writing have recognized excellence in the field since their inception in 2007.  Read more about this year’s finalists.

Subvention Grants

ASLE Subvention Grants support innovative projects in ecocriticism and the environmental humanities. We are especially interested in projects of a scholarly and/or creative nature that engage with new media, aim at fostering intercultural or interdisciplinary exchange, or seek to bring insights from the environmental humanities to a non-academic public.

Translation Grants

ASLE Translation Grants support work in ecocriticism from international scholars translating books or other substantial projects (such as longer articles) into English, or from English into other languages.
