We are delighted to announce another round of ASLE Grants are available in 2026.

ASLE is providing up to FIVE grants, funded at a maximum of $1,000 each, to support:

Subvention grants for innovative projects in ecocriticism and environmental humanities such as art installations, documentary film projects, digital humanities web projects, and book or article publication; Translation grants funding a translation into English, or from English into other languages, of relevant ecocritical or environmental humanities work that has been previously published.

The ASLE Mentoring Program connects graduate students and early career scholars with experienced members of our community for career guidance and professional support. Mentorship can take many forms, including guidance in academic scholarship or creative writing, service as outside readers on dissertation committees, help navigating the job market, advice for publishing, and support for faculty members in early career tenure-track and precarious positions.

Since ASLE hosted its 2024 Contingent and Independent Scholar Online Speaker Series, much has changed in and outside of higher education. The climate crisis has intensified, as emerging authoritarian and far-right governments dismantle democracies, roll back environmental regulations, cut funding for research, education, and culture, and expand militarization and policing.
