Please read this announcement with hope! Our conference is generally small but very friendly and entertaining. If we cannot meet in person in October, we will host a virtual conference instead. We also like to publish the proceedings in AE: A Journal of Literature, Community and the Natural World. Also, since I’m still working at home, I’m unable to update the website with information on the upcoming conference, my apologies.

The Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library of Texas Tech University is once again celebrating the Sowell Collection. The conference will be held Oct. 8-10, 2020. Featured speakers include Howard Norman and J. Drew Lanham. All events are free and open to the public.
We accept proposals of scholarly and creative work. We are always looking for panels and individual sessions that engage with the works of writers in the Sowell Collection, as well as those that take the concepts of environmentalism and social justice as the bedrock for new ways of seeing and being in the world.
Panel and paper proposals accepted until Sept. 15, 2020. Please send proposals, including session title, abstract, and short bio to Diane Warner. diane.warner@ttu.edu
There is no registration fee required for presenters or members of our audiences. We ask only that you make a donation to our new Sowell Collection Endowment fund. A link can be found on our home page:
