Scholar of the Month

ASLE’s Scholar of the Month for August 2020 is Kiu-wai Chu. 

Kiu-wai Chu is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Humanities and Chinese Studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research focuses on ecocriticism and eco-aesthetics, animal studies, and contemporary cinema and visual art, specifically in Chinese and Southeast Asian contexts. His work has appeared in Transnational Ecocinema; Ecomedia: Key Issues; Cli-fi: A Companion; Chinese Environmental Humanities; Asian Cinema (journal) and elsewhere.

ASLE’s Scholar of the Month for July 2020 is Alexander Menrisky. 

Alexander Menrisky is a Lecturer jointly appointed in English & Communication and the Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. His first book, Wild Abandon: American Literature and the Identity Politics of Ecology, is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press in January 2021.

ASLE’s Scholar of the Month for June 2020 is Kristen Angierski.

Kristen Angierski is a Ph.D. candidate at Cornell University, where she is currently completing a dissertation project titled “Fictions of Empathy: Embodied Ethics in Contemporary Anthropocene Literature.” Her work has been published in ISLE, Gothic Nature, and a forthcoming edited collection on the genre of ecohorror. She will be transitioning to high school teaching this fall.

ASLE’s Scholar of the Month for May 2020 is Matt Henry. 

Matt Henry is a Scholar in Residence at the University of Wyoming, where he holds a joint appointment with the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, the School of Energy Resources, and the Department of English. His research focuses on environmental justice, the energy humanities, and just transitions.
