Update: Submission Deadline Extended to October 6, 2025
In continuing to foster opportunities for our members and community to gather digitally, ASLE is continuing the Spotlight Series in 2026. The series will be offered both in live video format with audience, and in a recorded format for viewing and listening afterward, occurring in winter 2026. We presently anticipate two or three Spotlight episodes.
As in past years, each event will:
- feature moderated conversations with authors/creators of work chosen for thematic coherence across diverse media such as books, films, web projects, exhibits, etc.;
- include both critical and creative work;
- and highlight publicly engaged scholarship.
New this time around, we will also:
- invite applicants to identify the geographic focus of their work and engagement
- potentially organize one or more Spotlight events based on works clustered in shared regional geographies, in close coordination with ASLE’s effort to grow and support ASLE’s Regional Collaborations (RC) network. The RC network aims to connect all members of the ASLE community interested in collaborating on regionally-located or -themed projects (from writing support groups to community engagement programs to scholarly collaborations).
The series will provide opportunities for ASLE members to present and discuss new work in a range of ecocritical traditions and literatures and in the environmental humanities. A committee of current and past ASLE officers will review the submissions and curate the series.
- You do not need to be an ASLE member to submit your materials, but membership will be required if your work is selected to be featured in the ASLE Spotlight. See our membership page for details
- Submitted work should have a publication/release/launch date between July 2024 and March 2026.
- To be considered for ASLE Spotlight, please apply by Extended Deadline of October 6, 2025.
