OVERVIEW

We are pleased to invite chapter proposals for an upcoming edited volume that explores the intersection of linguistics, environmental studies, and education. This
interdisciplinary collection aims to bridge theoretical frameworks with practical
applications in the field of ecolinguistic pedagogy. The project is significant as it
focuses on ecolinguistics pedagogy, part of an emerging field that combines
ecolinguistics (pioneered by scholars like Alwin Fill, Michael Halliday, and Arran Stibbe since the 1990s) with educational approaches.

SCOPE:
The volume seeks to examine how language shapes environmental understanding and how this knowledge can be effectively integrated into educational practices. Ecolinguistics is discipline oriented towards the ecological impact of language on our lives and the relationships with other
species. As a theoretical perspective, ecolinguistics is aimed to rethink the human role in the ecosystems and help in the search of new ways of living that do not jeopardize the diversity of life in the planet (Li, Vork Steffensen & Huang 2020).
Through this scope, education plays a central role in discussing and establishing new visions and perspectives for a sustainable future as it constitutes a fundamental tool in creating, debating and disseminating of knowledge. With this volume we seek to provide an insight in
new ways of approaching ecological issues through discourse and vice versa.

We welcome contributions that address, but are not limited to:

– Theoretical frameworks combining ecolinguistics and educational theory
– Language patterns in environmental discourse and their educational implications
– Pedagogical approaches to teaching environmental concepts through linguistic analysis
– Case studies of successful ecolinguistic educational programs
– Critical analysis of environmental language in educational materials
– Cross-cultural perspectives on environmental language and education
– Digital tools and resources for ecolinguistic education
– Assessment methods for environmental literacy and linguistic awareness
– Teacher training for ecolinguistic approaches
– Policy implications for environmental education through linguistic perspectives

– Length: 6,000-8,000 words (including references)
– Format: APA 7th Edition
– Original, unpublished work
