Diálogos: the Journal of the Department of Philosophy of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras is excited to announce a call for papers for a special issue on the topic of Environmental Philosophy to appear in the Winter of 2023.

We invite paper submissions on any topic in environmental philosophy broadly construed. Possible topics include sustainability, the nature of wilderness, ethics of terraforming, conservation & de-extinction, environmental activism, climate change, wildlife, Indigenous rights, environmental aesthetics, and environmental ethics in outer space.

Environmental philosophy has reached an interesting stage in its history. Concerns about the environment and space have become much more pressing. Worries about how best to combat climate change are now center on the table. And the state of environmental activism – its methods and its aims – is arguably more important now than ever. We hope in this special issue to explore the frontiers of these and other topics in environmental philosophy, a sort of “forward looking” special issue. However, more theoretical and historical papers will also be given full consideration, especially those that take on a more meta-philosophical point of view. We are also excited to accept papers that look at specific real-world case studies.

Submissions are welcome in both English and Spanish.

Papers should be sent to dialogossi2023@gmail.com by May 15th, 2023. Decision of acceptance: July 2023. Articles should be in Word or PDF format. Please submit your paper prepared for blind review and include a title page in your email that contains your name, email address, paper title, word count, abstract, and 4 to 6 keywords. Submissions must not exceed 8,000 words.

Questions and comments can be sent to dialogossi2023@gmail.com
