We are excited to announce the lineups for our new ASLE Spotlight series launching this spring. Each of the four episodes features moderated conversations with ASLE members who have produced new critical and creative work in the environmental humanities. Episodes follow a theme, and highlight publicly engaged scholarship. If you cannot attend the live online events, they are being recorded.

ASLE EcoCast Seeks “Quick Fictions” Submissions
The ASLE EcoCast podcast is doing a special “Quick Fictions” episode in honor of EcoCast’s first birthday in July, 2021.
We want to hear your voices on EcoCast! The special Quick Fictions episode will feature very short creative pieces (of 300 words or less) with environmental themes. We’re looking for thoughtful, arresting pieces about ecological issues, climate breakdown, or mass extinction. ASLE stands in solidarity with our Asian and Asian American members and BIPOC communities to condemn anti-Asian violence. Amid overlapping social and ecological crises, ASLE seeks to further members’ efforts to engage meaningfully and effectively with public audiences. We conducted two virtual workshop opportunities in January and February 2021 to learn with members deeply engaged in public work.

It is with great pleasure that ASLE announces the winners of our recent elections:
Andrea Knutson, who is finishing her term on the Executive Council, will serve as Vice President in 2021 and 2022, and Immediate Past Vice President in 2023.

Call for Applications for “ASLE Spotlight”: New Work in Ecocriticism and the Environmental Humanities
To foster opportunities for our members and community to gather digitally, ASLE is developing a new series of live and recorded events to spotlight outstanding new work in a diverse range of ecocritical traditions and literatures and in the environmental humanities. This series will be offered both in live video format with audience, and in a recorded format for viewing and listening afterward. The series will launch in early 2021 and continue monthly. We presently anticipate four Spotlights.
